Convict Notes




During a drunken quarrel, James Stacey stabbed and killed his friend and neighbour James Hopkins. He was convicted of manslaughter at the Berkshire Assizes on 09 Jul 1831 and sentenced to 14 years transportation.




Married Harriot Blay (1803-1898) at St John the Baptist, New Windsor, Berkshire on 9 Feb 1821. They had four children: William (1822-1845), Mary (1823-1881), Susan (1826-1833), Thomas (1828-1833).
