At our present Quarter Sessions, a youthful delinquent named Maurice Stack, was tried and found guilty under the following circumstances :—The prisoner had been employed to execute a civil bill decree for the sum of one pound five shillings, which sum he levied and received the amount, and converted to his own use. He being questioned by the barrister, as to what he had done with the money, he answered he drank and gambled. —The learned Barrister observed, that say what he could perceive of his character, though young in years, he was old in iniquity—he said an example must made and sentenced the prisoner to 7 years transportation. Kerry Evening Post, 16 July 1831. -------------------------------------------------- The following nine convicts were transmitted this morning, by mail coach, from our County Gaol to the convict hulk at Cove of Cork, in charge of Mr. Murphy, the governor, and an escort, Owen Sullivan, Maurice Stack, and James M'Carthy, for Larceny. Francis M, stealing. John Griffin—Cow stealing. James Lyne, Michael Lynch. Timothy Murrane, also James Morrissey—for sheep stealing. Kerry Evening Post, 17 Sept 1831.
