Mark Stocks died 19th November 1854 at Watermans arms Hobart from excessive drinking causing a stroke. Unknown where buried.

26/10/1836 Derby Mercury Derbyshire, England: DERBYSHIRE OCTOBER SESSIONS. MARK STOCKS, aged 26, and FRANCIS WHITEHEAD, aged 23, were charged with stealing, in the parish of Alfredton, a purse containing five half crown pieces, and one shilling in silver, the property of William Calladine. William Calladine, was returning from Alfreton fair on the 1st of August, between ten and eleven o'clock at night, when he was stopped by three ment; one of them plaed his hand on his breast, put his hand into his breeches pocket, and took out his purse, containing five half crowns and one shilling, and then ran away. Witness pursued and followed them down a lane; he caught Whitehead and took him to the Plough Inn, and Stocks followed him. He then sent for a constable. When he came, Stocks said he would rather pay the amount than have it said they had robbed hi, and he did so, but not in the same coin as that stolen. Neither the purse nor any half crowns were found on them. Joseph England, constable, took them into custody. They neither of them offered any resistance.__Both Guilty. Transported for seven years. Francis Whitehead was also on board the 'Sarah'. Mark Stocks was listed as 27 years old on arrival - his native place was Leeds. Mark was 5'9½" tall, fresh complexion, dark hir, no whiskers, grey eyes, married, wife Ann at Leeds. 22/8/1840: Matthews/misconduct - to be returned to the service of the Ow???. 10/3/1841: TOL 2/5/1842: TOL/Misconduct - 14 days solitary. 9/6/1842: Susanna Mary Stock, born to Mark and Anne, at Hobart Town. 1/7/1842: CP 18/10/1842: Aged 32, married Ann Davis, aged 20 at Hobart. 1843: Free Certificate. 15/2/1845 Colonial Times, Hobart: Caution. MY Wife, ANN STOCKS, having left my protection without any just cause or provocation, the Public are hereby cautioned not to trust her on my account, as I will not be answerable for any Debts she may contract. MARK STOCKS. Muddy Plains, Feb. 12, 1845. 259 19/5/1848: Frances Stocks, born Hobart. 1/9/1852: Steerage Passenger, from Hobart Town to Melbourne per 'Thalia'. Cannot locate his death but he apparently died in 1854. Ann Stocks, aged 32, married George Somers, aged 30 on 29/9/1856 at Great Swanport.
