From the New South Wales Gazette 24th February 1846 The Tickets of Leave, of the undermentioned Prisoners of the Crown, have been cancelled for the reasons stated opposite their respective names. Absconded. Stokes William, Charles Kerr, 1837, 33, Wiltshire, butcher, 5 feet 8 ¼ inches, dark ruddy comp,, brown hair, bluish eyes, small dark mole under left jaw, scar back of right thumb, another back of right hand, brown blotch left shin, from Ticket of Leave, Maitland, since the 16th December, 1845, charged with embezzlement.
