Jos. Stubbs and John Huxley, for counterfeiting Prussian coin, were sentenced to be transported seven years. Northampton Mercury, 29 March 1806.

Memorial. The humble Petition of J. Stubbs, free by 7 year sentence humbly sheweth That your Excellency’s Petitioner came to this Colony on the ship Adm. Gambier 1st in the years 1808 under the above sentence of Transportation, that the Pet. tends a farm in the district of Evan. Pet approaches your Excellency in humble hope that your Excellency in your benificence will grant him a farm & as in duty bound will ever pray, J S . Stubbs. Pet . Tried and convicted at the Warwick Assizes on 24th March 1806, sentenced to transportation for 7 years. Left England on 2nd july 1808. Ship:- the 'Admiral Gambier' sailed with 200 male convicts on board of which 3 died during the voyage. Arrived on 20th December 1808. After his sentence was completed he may have been employed by former convict Elijah Lane, who had arrived on the same ship. He married Elijah's widow, Ann (former convict, 'Minnstrel' 1812), in 1828 at Castlereagh. They are shown on the 1828 census with having 250 acres and 16 cattle. Ann died at Richmond in 1840. Joseph Stubbs died on 29th July 1863 at Richmond.
