Arrived in Australia and assigned to a property in what is now Canberra.  Escaped and lived in the Brindabella Mountains surround Canberra.  He was later joined by John Ricks or Rix, James Murphy (also Prince Regent) and Thomas Cain or Kane.  Indicted in 1829 for a robbery from a hut belonging to Mr Robert Campbell, Sen. Esq. in Argyle on 21 November 1827 where they stole property belonging to James Ainsle and putting Charles Bowmen in Bodily fear.  John Tennant and James Murphy and sentenced to seven years transportation on Norfolk Island John Ricks (or Rix) and Thomas Caine or Kane found not Guilty.  James Murphy found guilty on second charge and also sentenced to a further seven years on Norfolk Island.  After serving time on Norfolk Island returned to Sydney on 13 September 1836 and then moved to Hyde Park Barracks on 16 September 1836.  Reference Phoenix Hulk Entrance Book 1833 -1837.  Died on 29 August 1839.  Cannot determine district.  Appears to be natural causes because there was no Coroner’s Inquest.
