Absconded. Tierney Mary, Minerva (6), 19, Limerick, nursery maid, 5 feet 0¾ inches, sallow and freckled comp., light brown hair, dark grey eyes, diagonal scar centre of forehead, scar back of middle finger of left hand, from Lewis Barnett, Sydney, since May 24. NSW Govt Gazette, 27 May 1840.

National Archives. ADM 101/54/6B. Medical journal of the convict ship Minerva, for 18 August to 26 December 1839 by Patrick Magovern, Surgeon and Superintendent, during which time the said ship was employed in a voyage from Dublin to Sydney, New South Wales. Folio 4: Mary Tierney, aged 20; convict; case number 6; sick or hurt, pleuritis; put on sick list, 7 September 1839, discharged 12 September 1839.

RULE OF COURT. Transportation—To transported for seven years: … Mary Tierney and Anne Cole, stealing money from Edw. Blake ; Limerick Chronicle, 6 July 1839. The Chief Constable and a party of police last morning left this with the  following convicts for Kilmainham:—viz. from the county gaol, Ellen Finherty, Catherine Bradshaw, Margaret Buckley, and Catherine Ryan, to be transported for 7 years for robbery, and the following from the city gaol:— Catherine Kelly, Margaret Fitzgerald, Mary ...ney, Maryanne Young, Sarah Ryan, Mary Kennedy, Ann Gleeson, Ann Cole, Margaret Hartigan, Johannah Courtney, Catherine Sullivan, and Margaret Burke, same offence. and like sentence Limerick Chronicle, 13 July 1839.
