Lincolnshire Winter Assizes. Felonious Assault at Fulbeck. Solomon Towers, labourer, was charged with rape upon the person of Mary Johnson, his daughter-in-law, at Fulbeck, on the of September last. —Mr. Sills prosecuted, and Mr. Huish defended the prisoner.—The facts of the case are of a most painful nature, and many of them are quite unfit for publication.— The prosecutrix is good-looking country girl 21 years of age, who stated that she had lived in the service  of Mr. White, of Caythorpe. but in consequence of some disagreement she was nbout leaving. About eight o'clock on the night of the 14th of September the prisoner, who is her father-in-law, and resides Caythorpe,  went to fetch her home from Mr. White's. On leaving there, she accompanied the prisoner to a public-house, and remained there until eleven o'clock at night. They then proceeded homew'-ds, walking side by side, but had not gone far when the prisoner conducted himself an indecent manner towards his . in-law, but she got away from him and stated that she she I rm her mother when she got home. He ran after her overtook her about a mile from Leadenham, and committed the offence for which he was indicted. The prosecutrix then got  away from the prisoner ... Rape at Fulbeck. Solomon Towers, 41, labourer, was convicted of felonious assault on his daughter-in-law, at Fulbeck, and sentenced to penal servitude for life. Stamford Mercury, 7 Dec 1860.
