TUESDAY. March 3. WILLIAM TULIP (23) was charged with having, the parish of Winlaton. feloniously assaulted and wounded James Robinson, and robbed him and robbed him of £180, two purses, and eight bank notes of the value £5. each. Durham Chronicle, 7 March 1840. ---------------------------------------------------- A letter was received at the prison the same morning from the Secretary of State for the Home Department, ordering William Tulip, against whom sentence of death was recorded at the last assizes, for robbery, to be transported for life. Newcastle Courant, 13 March 1840. ------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, the following convicts were removed from Durham gaol, to the hulks, William Tulip, to be transported for life; and Ann Collins, Agnes Henry, and Agnes McDevot, 10 years.
