Robert Wainwright was listed as 17 years old on arrival. Transported for 'Stealing in a dwelling-place'. Robert was literate, Protestant, single, 5'3ΒΌ" tall, sallow complexion, brown hair, chestnut eyes, small pockpit on right cheek, R. W. burnt scar on the left, R J.M inside lower right arm, HW and anchor inside lower left arm, scar and raised mole inside left wrist, scar back of left thumb. 4/1/1844: TOL Queanbeyan 20/3/1869 The Burrangong Argus, NSW: Robert Wainwright selected 46 acres of land at Wombat. 9/8/1901: Robert died.

Robert married Margaret Orr who had been married to James Orr, with whom she had 1 son who died. Margaret didn't marry Matthew Carter as they were both legally married to others. Margaret and Robert had 6 children.




Robert Wainwright was born in Liverpool, England. 1844: TOL Queanbeyan Robert was free by 1846, and in 1851 married Margaret McCullium (McCulley, McCallum etc). Margaret had been married to a Mr Orr, 3 children, then to Matthew Carter (Bengal merchant 1834)5 children, and then to Robert, 5 children. They lived in the Young NSW area. 1901: Robert died at Young, NDE and is buried at Wombat, a small town near Young.
