William Wandly was convicted at Kingston Upon Hull for embezzling 3 and a half pence, in Dec 1840. 7yr sentence. 1 night in prison for vagrancy. Spent 3 years of sentence at Parkhurst Prison for Boys, Isle of Wight. Described as "a most perfect liar, artful deceiver". Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the ship 'Mandarin' arriving 16 Oct 1843. Since arriving in the Colony, further imprisoned for absconding from his Master.
