GEORGE WRAGG: Convicted 21 January 1829 *Arrived Marquis of Sheffield 1831 * Ship Indent - Age 16, reads and Writes, Prot. Single. Cutler. Native of Sheffield. Stealing snuff boxes. Trial AT Doncaster, Yorkshire. Had earlier 3 month sentence. 5ft 5”, dark ruddy complexion, brown hair hazel eyes On arrival - sent to Wm Miller, Upper Hunter River. Report of his trial: Sheffield Independent Saturday 24 January 1829 page 3. George WRAGG pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing at Sheffield two small boxes, the property of Mr James Smith Davey. The prisoner, who had been before convicted at Rotherham Sessions, was sentenced to seven years transportation with a recommendation to the penitentiary. 4 July 1836 - Certificate of Freedom * Native of Sheffield * Tried 21 january 1829 York Qtr essions * Born 1814 (now aged 22) * 5ft 10 in (George has grown since arrival) * Ruddy, Light hair, grey eyes * Tattoo - GW inside lower left arm
