The following notes and accompanying transcript were first shared by Keith Funnell on the public Funnell Family Tree Sarah Wright court proceeding 13 Sept 1820, published in Old Bailey Sessions 16 Sept 1820 16 Sept 1820 London, England On 13th September 1820 Sarah Wright was found guilty at a hearing of the Old Bailey, London, of possession of forged notes, being a plea bargain from actually being originally arrested for uttering forged notes. The proccedings of the trial were published 3 days latter on 16 September. Transcript Old Bailey Sessions, Saturday, Sep.16 Bank of England Prosecutions The following prisoners were arraigned, and several pleaded guilty to indictments charging them with knowingly having forged Bank of England notes in their possession, viz. John Dugard, Jonas Weight, Charles Watkins, Joseph Ashton, Edward Dowden, alias George Sykes, Robert Ellis, two John Smiths, George Brown, George Corkin, Elizabeth Callaghan, Elizabeth Burn, John Newnham, Elizabeth Goold, Mary Jones, Sarah Wright, Mary Howard, William Howard, and William Stevens. The following male prisoners severally pleaded not guilty to the minor and capital offences: viz. Thomas Goodhall, Henry Harris, John Wood, Thomas Lee, Wm. John Cunningham, John Hadden, and Sarah Price, and their trials were fixed for Monday morning (this day.)

The following notes were first shared by nancheryl2311 on the Ancestry public Martin Family Tree. Notes for Sarah Wright: taken from notes researched and compiled by Tom Clark and Olive Clark nee Thomas. Sarah Wright Sarah Wright was born in Surrey England near Dorking in 1800, she was convicted of being in possession of forged notes at Middlesex G.D. on 13-Sep-1820 & sentenced to 14 years in the Colony Australia. Sarah Wright was heavy with child. The baby was born in Brixton prison on the 7-Oct-1820. The name of the child was Hannah Wright. ( Father was John Holder) The Govenor of the bank gave Sarah three pounds to purchase clothes for the child. Transported to Australia on The Lord Sidmouth (3) shipsMaster was Ferrier. The Ships surgeon was Superintendent Robert Espie (a cruel man who would beat the female prisoners on the back and around their legs). The ship sailed from England on the 11th of September 1822, departing from Woolwich and journeyed via Rio taking 152 days, the ship embarked with 97 female convicts, one death occurred during the journey, 46 disembarked at Sydney and 50 at Hobart. Arrived in Australia in the year 1823, Sarah Wright married James Funnell who also was a convict. Granted ticket of leave on the 5-Oct-1829 and ticket of freedom on the 30-April-1840. After the death of James Funnell on the 29-Sep-1839 Sarah Funnell nee Wright married Joseph Cardy also a convict in 1840. Sarah Wright had her first child Hannah Wright, 10 children to James Funnell & three children to Joseph Cardy. Sarah Wright. Height 5 feet 2 inches Complexion fair, freckled Eyes blue Sarah was allowed to remain in the district of Bringelly & Cooke. Sarah Wright married James Funnell (Prince of Orange arr. 12/2/1821 and had 10 children. James Funnell died in 1839 and Sarah re-married to Joseph Cardy, eventually dying in 1881. I'm her 5x GG Son.
