Family connections for Ann (Yates/Yeates) are: YATES/YEATES Ann (Yates/Yeates) was born about 1768. She arrived in NSW as a convict in 1788 also, on First Fleet ship LADY PENRHYN. She had a first (1of3) relationship with Joseph (Theakston). In March 1788 she was selected to join the first party of settlers to Norfolk Island, which she refused due to being 7months pregnant. She stayed in Port Jackson when David (Collins) & Joseph (Theakston) separately left for UK in 1796.>>> Ann (Yates) does not have an entry on this Website as yet-this entry added by me. Joseph (Theakston) arrived in NSW as a seaman on 22 1 1788 after a voyage of 12months on First Fleet ship LADY PENRHYN also. He returned to UK in 1796. Ann (Yates) & Joseph (Theakston) produced 1child: 1.Joseph (Theakston) was born in 1788 & baptised on 16 3 1788 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. .. [>>>Ann/Nancy (Yeates) was an emancipist when she had a second (2of3) relationship with James John (Grant) emancipist.]>>> [James John (Grant) was born about 1768. He was tried at Edinburgh Scotland Court of Justiciary, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 17 10 1794 after a voyage of 8months on SURPRISE. He died in 12 4 1812 age41 with Absolute Pardon & was buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney.] [Noted a James (Grant) & Margaret (???) are recorded as producing a child Frances who was born on 27 1 1813 & baptised on 7 2 1813 at St Phillips CofE Sydney] [Some details taken from this Website] .. >>>Ann (Yates/Yeates) had a third relationship at age16 with David (Collins his second (2of4) relationship) & produced 2children. She produced 3known children in her lifetime. David (Collins) married firstly in Nova Scotia Canada. He arrived in NSW as an officer in 1788 on First fleet ship HMS SIRIUS; he became deputy judge advocate. He returned to England & his wife, on 25 10 1796 on BRITANNIA from Port Jackson, arriving at Liverpool on 28 6 1797. He arrived back in Australia (Antipodes) in 1803 on HMS CALCUTTA from England as Marine Lieutenant Colonel to establish settlement at Port Phillip, found area unsuitable & moved to the Derwent Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) on 13 12 1803, naming Hobart Town in February 1804. In 1807 he was Lieutenant Governor. He died on 24/8 3 1810 father of 5known children & was buried in Hobart on the spot intended for a church, and St David's CofE Cathedral now bears his name.
