William Abernethy was listed as 51 years old on arrival. Son Hugh Abernethy arrived NSW per Mellish 1829. Native Place: Belfast. Occupation: Rope maker and soldier. This was William's 2nd conviction he had served 4 years in the hulks. William was literate, Protestant, married with 1 child, 5'7½" tall, dark ruddy complexion, dark brown hair and eyes, warts left arm, mermaid WA 1807 on stump?? raised swelling in left eyelid. Assigned to Jacob Wye?? at Sydney. 26/5/1834: TOL - Allowed to remain in the District of Pennant Hills - On recommendation of the Paramatta Bench, dated 31/8/1833. Cancelled, the holder having been found guilty of Larceny. 10/6/1837: COF Possible death: 1854: NSW BDM - William Abernethy died aged 84 - no district given.
