Millicent ABELTHORPE was convicted at the CCC, London on 22 Oct 1838 for larceny by servant - embezzling money from her employer. Gaol Report - connections respectable. A widow. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Hindostan' arriving 11 Sept 1839. Assigned to work services, including at the Female Factory Hobart. Marriage: to Ellis SCHOFIELD 24 July 1843 at Hobart. Ellis was recorded as 30 yrs of age, a labourer, transported per 'Lady Nugent'. Mellicent, aged 34yrs, widow. (ref. 37/1/3 no. 733. Govt permission given). Free Certificate 955 in 1845.
