Old Bailey Proceedings Online (www.oldbaileyonline.org, version 8.0, 01 January 2020), April 1817, trial of ABRAHAM ABRAHAMS GEORGE NICHOLS (t18170416-113). ABRAHAM ABRAHAMS, GEORGE NICHOLS, Theft > grand larceny, 16th April 1817. 651. ABRAHAM ABRAHAMS and GEORGE NICHOLS were indicted for stealing, on the 2d of April , two pair of boots, value 3l. , the goods of John Handson . EBENZER DALTON . I am an officer. On 2d April, from information which I received, I went with Freeman, and found both the prisoners in a house in Black Lion-court, with a bundle, containing the boots, two hats, and a quantity of scissars - They appeared to be going to divide them. FRANCIS FREEMAN . I was with Dalton; he has spoken correctly. (Property produced and sworn to.) ABRAHAMS - GUILTY . Aged 17. NICHOLLS - GUILTY . Aged 21. Transported for Seven Years . Abraham Abrahams and George Nicholls were charged with stealing 2 prs of boots and other sundry items. They were tried and convicted at CCC Middlesex and given 7 yr Transportation sentences. Abraham sailed on the 'Lady Castlereagh' in 1817 for Van Diemen's Land. Further charges in the colony: 7/7/1821 Sheep Stealing - to forfeit his Ticket of Leave. 16/10/1824 Swear profane oath whilst under examination from the Supt. of Police - fined. 18/10/1827 Stealing and taking off riding a mare.
