At the Quarter Sessions last week at Maidstone, George Adams, James Southgate, ? Pollard, William Pollard, and John Wright, for petit larceny, were sentenced be Transported for 7 Years. The joy infused in the Court was after sentence had passed on the Pollards, with huzzas, and a general repetition succeeded by populace, as they were taken through the streets to prison, congratulating each other on the happy opportunity of sending out of the kingdom such notorious offenders, who had for a long time, been a dreadful pest to the community in this county. Kentish Gazette, 23 January 1789.
