1831 - 1 December. 245. WILLIAM ADAMS was indicted for stealing on the 10th of November , 1 pencil-case, value 2s , the goods of Samuel Avila . JAMES LOCKYER . I am shopman to Samuel Avila, a pawnbroker , of Mile-end-road . On the morning of the 10th of November I saw the prisoner at a broken pane of glass in our window; he had some kind of instrument - I saw him drawing out a pencil-case, and when he had very nearly got it out, I ran out, and pursued him; I saw about three others near him, as he was running - I took him; and as he was going to the watch-house, he threw away a pencil-case; he left this piece of whalebone, with a book to it, in the window. JOSEPH WILLIAMS . I was standing at my door, and saw the prisoner being taken to the watch-house; I saw him throw away this pencil-case. JOSEPH FRIANEL CRISTALL . I am a police-officer. I was at the station-house when the prisoner was brought in; I found on him a handkerchief and 1s.(Property produced and sworn to.) GUILTY . Aged 11. - Transported for Seven Years .
