DEATH: 11 January, 1859: Dennis Aherne [sic] #18275 per Mayda "died suddenly at Partridge Island of disease of the heart" (Tasmania, Australia, Convict Court and Selected Records, 1800-1899; Register; Registers of convict deaths, 1845-1874). Note: Partridge Island lies in the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, between Bruny Island and the south-east coast of Tasmania.

IN VDL: On arrival, he was listed as Dennis A Hearn, convict #1875, 48, shoemaker, married with three children (another part of the document lists two children), Roman Catholic, literate, native place County Kerry. He said he had been convicted of rape upon Ann Buttle, aged 40 -- "we had been drinking together and I having struck her she brought the charge against me" (https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON33-1-79$init=CON33-1-79p5). --0--
