New South Wales, Australia, Gaol Description and Entrance Books, 1818-1930 for Catherine Ahearn Sydney 1834-1838 22/7/1834 Trial Bathurst 1/12/1834 Transportation to Ff 7 years from Bathurst The Sydney Herald (NSW : 1831 - 1842) Mon 1 Dec 1834 Page 2 BATHURST QUARTER SESSIONS. Bartholomew Cullen and Catherine Aherne, prisoners of the Crown, were indicted for having stolen property in their possession. The female prisoner had absconded from the Bathurst Factory in November, 1833, and for some months had eluded apprehension. When discovered, she was inhabiting a temporary hut in an unfrequented spot, near Swallow Creek, in company with Cullen, an assigned servant on a neighbouring farm, several stolen articles being in their possession. The Jury found both prisoners guilty. Sentenced to be transported for seven years.
