Convict Notes
Mary Airyman (written as Erryman) married Thomas Shaw- shoemaker(Indefatigable) in 1820. Three convicts on the Lord Melville all married convicts called Thomas Shaw which causes some confusion. and possibly administrative errors in the original records. The others are Susan Brown who married Thomas Shaw- stonecutter and worked for John Oxley, surveyor (Isabella) and Frances Brown who married Thomas Shaw- carpenter (General Hewett).
Ann Airyman appears on 1828 census sge 33 F/S servant living in Essex Lane Sydney, other surnames Mosley, Mozley.
On Thursday se’ennight, the under mentioned Female Convicts were removed from Newgate in this City, and put on board the ship Lord Melville, lying at Deptford, for Botany Bay, viz. Jane Bevan, Ann Davis, Sarah Barrell, Jane Dunn, Mary Airyman, Elizabeth Dunn, Elizabeth Banes, Eliz. Matthews alias Hartley, Ann Chattles, Sarah Arnold, and Martha Greenwood, Bristol Mirror, 20 July 1816.
