Convict Notes
ADM 101/19/2 Medical and surgical journal of Her Majesty's convict ship David Clark for between 29 April and 9 October 1841 by Edward Jeffery, Surgeon, during which time the said ship was employed in a voyage to Van Diemen's Land. Folios 9-11: Alexander McRea, aged 40, convict; case number 1; disease, bronchitis. Put on sick list, 18 May 1841. Discharged 13 July 1841.
Alexander was transported for rape on a young woman on the bank of a canal. It is stated in his record "I am innocent she was bribed to bring charges against me". He assisted in helping his masters child from drowning in 1846. He received his ticket of leave in 1849. He had one offence on his record he was drunk and fined for it in 1850. He received his conditional pardon in 1853.
