Mary Ann Alexander did not return to England. She married John Fletcher, a convict transported on the David Clark in 1841. They married in 1847 in Hobart. They went to the Victorian goldfields with no apparent success, though had several children together. They then moved to New Zealand, settling in Lyttelton, Canterbury. Mary Ann died in 1885. She and John, who died in 1889, have a headstone with their daughter Miranda in the Addington Cemetery, Christchurch.

I'm not sure that it was correct to connect the Mary Ann Alexander (unmarried) transported to Australia with the Mary Ann Alexander (implied wife of Thomas Alexander) found not guilty of receiving later in London

Mary Ann married in Australia and returned to England with her husband. Both were later prosecuted over a theft, Mary Ann was charged with receiving but her marriage certificate led to her being found not guilty.
Married John Fletcher. Ended up in New Zealand.
Was Mary Ann Andrews. ist marriage to Robert Alexander before being convicted and transported from England.
