David's property at Kurrajong was called 'Timberinga'. It was next door to his son Joseph's inlaws, the Wilson family. The Wilson family also had 50 acres which they called Rocklands. Joseph married Susan Wilson and their descendants still live in Kurrajong.

David Alkin was in fact, David Hawkins. He was born anywhere from 1766-1788 in Croxall, Derbysire, and was supposedly 35 on arrival. David Alkin, one of 296 convicts transported on the ship 'Earl Cornwallis', August 1800. Sentence details: Convicted at Derby Quarter Sessions for a term of 7 years on 14 January 1800. Vessel: Earl Cornwallis. Date of Departure: August 1800. Place of Arrival: New South Wales. 25/9/1810: Married Jane Cooling/Cowling – Jane was born in 1795 in Sydney and died 1852. They had 7 children. 1822 Census: Hawkins, David, free by servitude, Cornwallis, 7 years, landholder, Windsor Hawkins, Jane, born in the colony, wife to D. Hawkins, Windsor 3 un-named children of above. 1828 Census: Hawkins, David, 50, free by servitude, E.
