GOVERNMENT PUBLIC NOTICE. Secretary's Office, Hobart Town, February 28, 1826. THE undermentioned Persons have obtained Certificates of Freedom during the last Week: Peter Allan. ... Bencoolen Hobart Town Gazette, 4 Mar 1826.




Convicts received on board the Bencoolen at Cove of Cork in Ireland, 13th and 14th April 1819, with their respective ages, date when tried, crimes and periods of transportation: Peter Allen, aged 30; where and when tried, March 1819, Dublin; crime, felony of fender; term of transportation, 7 years. Listed as 21 years old on arrival. 1833-35: Pubic Works By June 1833: Free by Servitude. 2/7/1833 The Colonist and Van Diemen's Land Advertiser, Hobart: Thursday, June 20th Peter Allen for stealing a dollar out of the till, at the Commercial Tavern, was found guilty and sentenced to be transported for seven years. 7/6/1836: Overseer - Neglect of duty - repremanded 22/5/1839: TOL 1842: Free Certificate.




Peter ALLAN was convicted at Dublin in March 1819. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to New South Wales, Australia per the 'Bencoolen' 1819 then transferred to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Admiral Cockburn' arriving Sept 1819. Aged 21yrs; a seaman; 5'5"; black eyes; black complexion. Native place - Dublin, Ireland.
