Family connections for Daniel (Allen) are: ALLEN Daniel (Allen) was born about 1888. He was tried at probably Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 29 9 1811 after a voyage of 5months on ADMIRAL GAMBIER. He was Free by Servitude when he married Mary (Sherwin age15 her first marriage on 26 12 1815 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. He died on 12 10 1821 age35 & was buried at St Johns CofE Parramatta. [Some details taken from this Website] Mary (Sherwin) was born on 24 10 1801 & baptised on 22 8 1802 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. She married secondly John (Lynch) on 4 5 1819 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. In 1825 she was recorded with her husband at Parramatta & in 1828 at Field of Mars with her family. He arrived in NSW as a soldier with his wife on 14 2 1792 after a voyage of 8months on Fleet ship PITT. In 1792 he was granted 500acres at Parramatta. In 1793 he was raised to sergeant. He arrived on Norfolk Island on 7/9 3 1794 with his wife & in 1795 he leased 0.5acre there. In 1798 he was detached to (Townson)s company. In 1799 he was granted 150acres at Musgrave Place Hawkesbury. In 1794 he was granted 100acres at Petersham Hill &, on 3 10 1794, he also leased 30acres there; on 6 11 1794 he leased a property at West Sydney. He was still assigned to Parramatta in 1795. On 10 6 1796 he was raised to Major at Parramatta. He was moved to Sydney in 1799 &, on 16 1 1799 he was granted 125acres at Hawkesbury, on 3 10 1799 he was granted 1,170acres at Toongabbie with another 190acres there on 18 12 1799. On 12 3 1800 he was granted a further 600acres at Toongabbie (he sold some of his grants to (MacArthur) in 1801 & cattle to Government) before being sent to Norfolk Island on 29 4 1800, where he was raised to acting Lieutenant Governor on 26 6 1800 & became Commandant as Major from August 1800 until September 1804 where he is known for his supposed harsh rule & able administration; he had a second relationship here with Hannah (Bolton/Moore perhaps her second (2of3)) relationship). He applied for leave in 1804 & returned to Sydney on sick leave & returned to UK on 9 9 1804. He returned to Sydney on 29 7 1808 as acting Lieutenant Governor, but was assigned as acting Governor.
