Henry Allen was transported on the Waterloo, departing 21st May 1836 and arriving 6th Sep 1836 with 220 passengers.
1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

Convict Notes
The convict indentures state that Henry Allen was 24 years old. He could read and write; Religion Roman Catholic; status single and a native of County Kildare. He was a training groom and jockey. [There is no occupation code for this combination.] Henry was convicted of assault and robbery at Dublin City on 2 January 1836 and sentenced to life. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 5 inches; complexion pale and freckled; hair brown and eyes grey. Transport number 51. Prisoner number 36-1856. NSW 1837 General Census states that Henry Allen was assigned to i) Hyde Park Barracks in Sydney and ii) to Mr Alexander Knighorne at Liverpool.
