Thomas Allen, a young man, educated at the Free Schools, and whose abilities might have brought him forward in any line of business,  pleaded Guilty to defrauding Mr, Priddle, the attorney, of 1£, which he had obtained in his master's name, and applied to his own use. This unfortunate lad  having already been imprisoned for a felony, the Court considered that further leniency would only lead to more aggravated crime, and sentenced him to be transported for seven years.  Shrewsbury Chronicle, 25 Jan 1828. The following male prisoners have have been sent off to the Dolphin hulk at Chatham, for seven years transportation:-Richard Lewis, Aaron Humphries, Jas. Eccleston, Thomas Allen, and Thomas Botfield, sentenced at Shrewsbury Sessions, and Evan Jones, sentenced at Oswestry. Shrewsbury Chronicle, 11 April 1828. Hulk Records.
