Same Day Thomas Allen was committed by the same Gentleman, charged on the Oaths of William MacCormick and William Roebuck, as as on the Confession of James Weaver, with receiving from the same James Weaver divers Hare and Rabbit Skins, two Mens Hats, a Pair of white Stockings, and sundry other Things, the Property of the said William Roebuck, knowing them to have been feloniously stolen out of his Shop, adjoining the Mitre Inn, in this City. Oxford Journal, 1 Mar 1788. And on Thursday, at the General Quarter Sessions for this City, Thomas Allen was tried and convicted, as a Principal in aiding, abetting, and assisting the Servant Boy of Mr. William Roebuck of this City, a Lad between twelve and thirteen Years of Age, in robbing his Master of Hats and divers other Articles, taken from his Shop; for which Offence, Allen was sentenced to be transported for seven Years.
