Transported to NSW 11 Oct 1830. At our Quarter Sessions yesterday. following prisoners were convicted and severally sentenced as under, viz : Cook, for ... under false pretences of Mr. Pain, confectioner.—Seven years transportation. Served; 14 years previous conviction Height; 5 ft 6 in Assigned; Maughan, Maitland Remarks; - 1836 - Ticket of Leave; 33/1623. 1837- Certificate of Freedom; C37/903 1847 - The Maitland Mercury and Hunter River General Advertiser. Sat 17 Apr 1847. Page 4. MAITLAND QUARTER SESSIONS. OBTAINING GOODS UNDER FALSE PRETENCES. Thomas Arnon was charged with having passed a worthless order on Henry Hopkins, at Maitland, on the 31st December, 1846, and obtained from him a silver watch. ..................The prisoner made no defence, and the jury returned a verdict of guilty.
