ANDERSON, Isabella (c1784-1850) Tried - 22 January 1812 Lancaster January Quarter Sessions Isabella, aged about 23, was taken before the Court at Lancaster April Sessions in 1807 charged with larceny and received a sentence of 18 months gaol. In 1812 Isabella was recorded as a cotton picker when she was found guilty of larceny at Lancaster Castle and received a 7 year sentence of transportation. The gaoler was given instructions to provide the female prisoners from Lancaster extra clothing for the journey, such as shoes, stockings, handkerchiefs, shifts and a jacket. Isabella was first sent to the Colony in 1812 on the Emu and finally arrived in Sydney on the Broxbornebury. BC: 1786 1807, April – Isabella Anderson was sentenced at Lancaster April Sessions for larceny & received a sentence of 18 months gaol. There is no record of marriage in the BDM records. [Note: Thomas Riley (c1790-c1823?) arr Sydney on the ship Boyd in 1809, aged 19. He had a life sentence, tried Dublin City in 1808. Thomas (as Riely) received a CP on 31/01/1818. Described as: 5’7½” tall. Dark ruddy complexion, dark brown hair, grey eyes. Sentenced to either pay a fine of 5 shillings or be exposed in the stocks. Bridget paid her fine but Isabella did not.
