JANET ANDERSON (CONVICT): Janet Anderson was born 1820 in Scotland, Parents unknown on her certificate of freedom / leave but father's surname was Anderson , was also convicted of minor offences in Glasgow and was sent to the lucky country from Scotland. . Janet came out to Australia on the Ship Mary Ann in 1839, Prisoner's No was 39/609 and state ref - 4/4198 , her ticket of leave no is 45/609. She was sent to Parramatta to work in are factory on arrival. Were on her Ticket of Leave she was allowed to remain in Bathurst area of New South Wales. Where she married Thomas Catley in 1846 in Bathurst N.S.W and they had 5 Children. SCOTLAND ARCHIVES - AD 14/39/247 - Precognition against Catherine McDead, Janet Anderson, Henry McDead for the crime of theft by housebreaking, habit and repute, and previous conviction JC 26/1839/326 - Trial papers relating to Henry McDeade, Janet Anderson, Catherine McDeade for the crime of theft by housebreaking, habit and repute. Tried at High Court, Glasgow Update 8th may 2012 Found doing a seacrh that janet was born in Glasgow and was about 20 years old and lodged with Henry McDead in a house in Old Wynd Glasgow , She had a prevoius conviction for theft, as they say that she was a ( habitual thief ) and her prevoius conviction was on 11 January 1836 at the gorbals Police Court and again it was for theft . At that time she was apparently going under the name of Janet Henderson at the time .and a brother George Anderson also a convict .
