DEATH: 26 May, 1848: Mary Anderson died in Launceston Hospital, aged 28. There are no details of the cause of her death (Tasmania, Australia, Convict Court and Selected Records, 1800-1899; Register; Registers of convict deaths, 1845-1874). --00--


Mary Anderson's Convict Indenture record repeats much of the above information. In addition, it says she can read. Her husband, Robert, was "an artist in Malta", who "left me two years" ago. IN VDL: 7 April, 1844: Convict record entry -- #179, Mary Anderson, tried 30 June 1843 at Newcastle upon Tyne, life, Presbyterian; transported for larceny. Gaol report: "Character depraved; made an attempt to escape since trial. Once convicted of felony; connexions considered respectable. Married. Stated this offence: stealing rings." Previous conviction for stealing 7 shillings (12 months' jail); also acquitted on a separate charge of stealing money (https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON41-1-1$init=CON41-1-1p5). April, 1844: Description -- on arrival, Mary Anderson was listed as 24 years old, a housemaid, native place Scotland; 5'0" tall with brown hair, grey eyes and a brown complexion (https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON19-1-4$init=CON19-1-4p3). --0--
