Family connections for Andrew (Mahon) are: Some amendments added Aug 2025. MAHON Andrew (Mahon) was born in 1797. He was tried for stealing sheep at Sligo Ireland, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 30 12 1818 after a voyage of 4.5months on MARTHA. He was Free by Servitude by 1828 & is recorded in 1828 as labourer to Robert (Sherrigham) at Evan. He associated with Elizabeth (Fowles-Davis/Sherringham her second relationship) & later married her on 10 1 1862 at Windsor. He died on 19 7 1889 age92. [Some details taken from this Website] Elizabeth (Fowles-Davis) was born on 20 8 1786. She arrived in NSW with her mother on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship MARY ANN. She was baptised, as (Davis?), on 26 6 1798 age11 w/halfbrother Jacob (Russell) at St Johns CofE Parramatta. She married firstly Robert (Sherringham) on 15 7 1811 at St Mathews CofE Windsor. She was recorded in 1828 with her family at Evan. She died on 15 6 1878 age91 mother of 18children. Details of Elizabeth (Fowles-Davis)s family are given ABOVE. Andrew (Mahon) & Elizabeth (Fowles-Davis-Sherringham) produced 6children: 1.James (Mahon) was born in 1828-Smees records do not identify the mother. 2-6.??? In the colony, Andrew was assigned to Robert Sheringham. He appears there in the 1828 Census... Page 254... [Ref M1106] McMahon, Andrew, 26, GS (no details of ship), Labourer to R. Sherringham, at Evan. It appears that Andrew carried on a very long term relationship with Elizabeth, the estranged wife of aforesaid Robert Sherringham (Convict, Minorca, 1801). Elizabeth was born in the colony, the daughter of Jacob Russell (Convict, Salamander, 1791) and Eleanor Davis (Convict, Mary Ann, 1791). Elizabeth and Andrew had 6 children between 1830 and 1845. They did eventually marry in October 1862 at Windsor. (Elizabeth's estranged husband Robert having died in 1861). Of Interest, Andrew's much younger brother Thomas also became a transported convict when he was Court Martialled in 1837 at Limerick, Ireland for Desertion. He was found guilty and transported in 1838 aboard the "William Jardine".
