Family connections for Andrew (Redding) are: REDDING Andrew (Redding/Reading/Readdon/Readin) was born about 1745/51. He was tried at Maidstone Kent on 19 3 1787, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 8.5months on Fleet ship MATILDA; he was sent to Norfolk Island on MARY ANN, arriving in August 1791. He had a first relationship with Ann (Garland). He had 10acres of land, 6 under cultivation by 1805 & was recorded in February 1805 as settler landowner. He is recorded in August 1807 on 10acres off stores with daughter Ann.>>> Andrew (Redding) does not have an entry on this Website as yet; added by me. Ann (Garland) was a servant when tried w/1other for stealing linen sheets etc of her employer Mary (Underhill) at Old Bailey on 10 12 1788, held maybe at Middlesex Gaol Delivery, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 3 6 1790 after a voyage of 12months on LADY JULIANA-a ship with 228females who easily entertained the whole crew & also sailors at Teneriffe stopover; she was sent to Norfolk Island on 7 8 1790 on SURPRISE. She was also known as Ann Garling (Reading), Mary Ann/Mary J (Galland/t). She was on the sick list on 19 1 1796, possibly in relation to birth of a child. Anne (Garland) died on 12 10 1801 & was buried on Norfolk Island. .. Andrew (Redding) & Ann (Garland) produced 3children: 1.Elizabeth (Redding/Garland) was born on 16 11 1794 on Norfolk Island. She was living with William (Dennett) by 1807 whom she produced at least 8children & later married. She moved to Port Jackson/Sydney with her family on 10 2 1812 on ENDEAVOUR. She married William (Dennett) on 30 8 1813 at St Phillips CofE Sydney, together with the baptism of their 4th child. She was listed in 1814 with her family off stores in Sydney. She went to Hobart Town Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) with her family about 1815. She is recorded as on stores at Hobart Town on 2 10 1818 with 6children. In July 1830 she & her husband received the 25acre Sandy Bay farm from her father in order that she support him, which they sold in June 1833. She died on 29 7 1867 recorded as age77 at Campbell St & was buried at Queenborough cemetery Sandy Bay. He was tried at Sussex Assizes in 1797, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW on 20 11 1800 or 1829, after a voyage of 8months on ROYAL ADMIRAL. He was sent to Norfolk in June 1804 possibly on HMS LADY NELSON; he received rations from stores until 19 3 1805. He is recorded as convict labourer on stores on Norfolk Island in February 1805. He was Free by Servitude by 1808. On 17 9 1810 he was issued his Pardon. He moved to Port Jackson/Sydney with his family on 10 2 1812 on ENDEAVOUR. He was listed in 1814 as baker with his family off stores in Sydney. He went to Hobart Town Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) with his family about 1815. He was recorded as on stores at Hobart Town on 2 10 1818. He had land on corner Campbell/Collins Streets Hobart Town, where he owned 'Dolphin Hotel' a public house, which he may have sold in 1822. In June 1823 he was granted 50acres at Glenorchy, which he sold in 1829. She was taken by her father on 25 12 1807 as part of the first evacuation on HMS PORPOISE to Derwent Tasmania, arriving on 17 1 1808; to Queensborough/Sandy Bay. She married at age15 George F (Munday/Monda/Mundy) on 1 5 1811 at St Davids CofE Hobart & produced maybe 1child. She died on 4/16 1 1812 age16, maybe childbirth, & was buried, as (Monday), at St Davids CofE Hobart. CCONVICTdone ..George F (Munday/Monda/Mundy) was born about 1765 (or 28 5 1778 at Exeter Devon (Smees records agree)) & became a farmer. He was tried for burglary & stealing spirituous liquor of Edward (Beer) Plymouth at Devon Assizes at Exeter Castle on 22 3 1802, sentenced to death reprieved to Life, held on a hulk prison ship & arrived at Port Phillip (now Victoria) as a convict on 4 10 1803 after a voyage of 7+months on HMS CALCUTTA (an expedition that settled in Tasmania); he would have camped at what is now Sorrento/Sullivans Bay. This expedition rejected Port Phillip for a settlement at this time & he was moved to Risdon Derwent Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) on 27 1 1804 (arriving on 15 2 1804) on OCEAN or HMS LADY NELSON or leaving on 24 3 1804 (arriving on 25 6 1804) on OCEAN. He was issued his Conditional Pardon on 1 2 1813 at Derwent Tasmania. He married secondly Sarah (Free age16) on 25 10 1813 at St Davids CofE Hobart. He was recorded as off stores on 2 10 1818 at Hobart Town & in 1819 as Gee (Mondy) at Hobart Town employed by ??? (Woodroffe). From 1819-22 he lived at Kingboro. He was recorded in 1822 with 4boys & employed by ??? (Woodroffe). At some time he received a land grant. He resided for 30years at Bream Creek. He was granted 25acres at Queenborough/Sandy Bay in September 1813 (which was put up for sale in 1822-but not sold). He married secondly Mary (Silk/Kelly) on 27 3 1820 at St Davids CofE Hobart. He was granted 25acres at Sandy Bay Creek Argyle Hobart on 30 6 1828, which he sold in September 1829. In July 1830 he gave the 25acre Sandy Bay farm to his daughter Elizabeth & her husband, who were obliged to support him. He died in May 1833 age88. Mary/ia (Silk/Kelly) was born about 1770. Westmeath Ireland in March 1815, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW on 4 4 1816 after a voyage of 6months on ALEXANDER (apparantly too ill to be placed in service); she was sent to Hobart Town Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) on KANGAROO arriving in April 1816. She is recorded as Mary (Kelly now Reading) at Buckingham district (Tasmania?) in 1821.
