Anne O'bryan was transported on the Margaret, departing 1st Sep 1838 and arriving 5th Jan 1839 with 170 passengers.
Built 1829 at Chepstow. 365 tons. Female prisoners were transported to New South Wales on the 'Margaret' in 1837, 1839 and 1840. The 'Margaret' was the last convict ship to transport female prisoners to New South Wales. Another voyage to Van Diemen's Land in 1843. The 1840 sailing also carried 17 free female passengers and one male. The registers of persons is not yet complete on this web site, so please note this if researching. (A work in progress.)

Convict Notes
The Convict Indentures state that Anne O'Bryan was 24 years old. She could neither read nor write; religion Roman Catholic; status single and a native of County Westmeath. She was a straw platter and laundress. Anne was convicted on 28 June 1838 at Westmeath of stealing money and sentenced to 7 years. She had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 0 1/2 inches; complexion pale; hair brown and eyes brown. Transport number 116. Prisoner number 114-39. Received ticket of leave on 15 March 1844 (number 44/990). Received Certificate of Freedom on 10 March 1846 (number 46/28) and allowed to remain the district of Campbelltown.
