Initial sentence: 14 years' transportation. Petitioner(s): Charles Appleton and Mary Appleton, prisoner's parents. Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Honest character; distressed parents; asks to be sent to the Penitentiary.

Sarah APPLETON was convicted at the Old Bailey Court, London in June 1821 for having forged notes. 14 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Mary Anne' arriving 1822. Assignment of work services in the Colony. 25 Sept 1822: Marriage to Jeremiah HEFFORD at Hobart. (ref. 36/1/1 no. 572) Jeremiah remarried, in 1838, following the death of Sarah. 14 July 1834: Conditional Pardon DEATH: Oct 1837 Sarah HEFFORD, age 35 yrs. Publican's wife. (ref. 34/1/1 no. 4892)
