Convict Notes
NATIVE PLACE: Birmingham, Warwickshire. No occupation is given; he is described as a "Boy" (not clear if this refers to his age or his low standing in the eyes of authorities). TRIED: On 11 March 1834, he was convicted for stealing 8 pounds of pork. He had been imprisoned twice before, once for shoplifting. He had also been flogged for "leaving his swine". THE VOYAGE: The Surgeon's reports says he was given 2 dozen lashes on the backside for indecently exposing himself to two men (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-2$init=CON31-1-2p123). IN VDL: James Aradin received his Free Certificate No.258 in 1841.
