Essex Assizes. The Halsted Gang.— Thomas and John Argent, for burglary in the house of Charles Wing, at Earls Colne, and stealing great quantity of wearing apparel and other articles, were capitally convicted, and sentence of death recorded. —[James Fulker was included in the indictment, but was acquitted.]— The two Argents were also indicted for another burglary in the house of E. Harrington, at Earls Colne; and with having a great quantity of counterfeit half-crowns and sixpences in their possession.—[James Argent, S. Williams, and Harriet Piper, charged with receiving divers quantities goods stolen by Thomas and John Argent, were admitted evidence, and discharged by proclamation.] Cambridge Chronicle, 10 Aug 1827.
