Thomas Arkinstall was convicted at Stafford 9/3/1844 for stealing cloth. First conviction. 10yr sentence. Transported to Norfolk Island and Van Diemen's Land on the 'Agincourt'. Married man, 10 or 11 children. Shoe maker; aged 49yrs; 5'7"; literate; C of E; sallow complexion; black hair; lt grey eyes; marks of vaccinations on both arms. Native Place: near Stafford. Norfolk Island Transferred to Van diemen's Land 8/10/1846. Ticket of Leave 02/10/1849 Conditional Pardon 13/07/1852
