The 'Margaret' was the last convict ship to transport female prisoners to New South Wales. Another voyage to Van Diemen's Land in 1843. The Convict Indentures state that Jane Armstrong was 21 years old. She could read; religion Roman Catholic; status single and a native of Wexford. She was a kitchen maid. Jane was convicted of picking pockets at Waterford on 21 June 1838 and sentenced to 7 years. She had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 1 1/2 inches; complexion dark sallow; hair dark brown nearly black and eyes brown. Transport number 112. Prisoner number 110-39.
