John Arney, John Moreton, James Arney, John Quinton, ? Mussell, were convicted of stealing 10 fowls, and 4 turkeys, the property of Thomas Maton at Downton. The two first were sentenced transportation for life ; James Arney and Quinton, to ? months hard labour;'and Mussel to ? hard labour... Devizes and Wiltshire Gazette, 21 Oct 1830. --------------------------------------------------- The following prisoners, convicted at the last Marlborough Sessions, were yesterday removed from gaol, and put board the Leviathan hulk at Portsmouth Harbour, viz.: John Moreton and John Arney, to be transported for life. David Golwell alias Golley, Thomas Parsons, Wm. Buckland, Thomas Thome and John Martin, to transported for 7 years. Devizes and Wiltshire Gazette, 11 Nov 1830.
