William Arney, was one of about 475 Swing Rioters, convicted for ARSON, MACHINE BREAKING, RECEIVING, or RIOTING, transported to Van Diemen's Land (VDL, now Tasmania) or New South Wales from 18 Counties of south east England 1831-33 born 1803 in Breamore, Hampshire; married Mary Ann Johnston,6th December 1834 in Hobart. June 10th 1835 having a saw in his possession Conduct Record: returning from Mr. Gibbins, Admonished Free pardon 3rd Feb 1836 Description: Trade: Carpenter & Joiner Height w/out shoes: 5'6", Age: 28, Complexion: Brown, Hair: Brown, Whiskers: Brown Visage: M.S., Forehead: perpent?, Eyebrows: Brown Eyes: Blue, Nose: M.S., Mouth: M.W., chin: M.L Remarks: scar left thumb
