George Arnold was convicted at the CCC, London on 1 Mar 1841 for Larceny - stealing 200 pounds from Charles Prior, Whitechapel. 7yr transportation sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the ship 'Moffatt' arriving 28 Nov 1842. Aged 27yrs; clerk; married; 5'8"; Protestant; can read & write; stout build. Native Place: St. Marys Roth.... Wife: Jane, at Birmingham. Father: William B Arnold, publican at Thames St. Mother: Mary Brother: William Sisters: Elizabeth, Jane, Frances, Eugenia Ticket of Leave 19 May 1846 1847: a Constable 7 Oct 1850: Tried at Hobart Court for burglary, in a dwelling house. Acquitted. Certificate of Freedom 27 July 1853.
