25/3/1843 Leicestershire Mercury Leicestershire, England: FRIDAY, MARCH 24, 1842 ROBERT ELLIOTT, (34) and SAMUEL ARNOLD, (35) charged with breaking into the dwelling-house of Richard Worth, at Whitwick, on the night of the 2nd of March last, and stealing therefrom three sovereigns, four shillings, a sixpence, and some bacon. Both having been previously convicted of felony were Transported for Life. Robert Elliott was also on board. Samuel Arnold was disembarked at Norfolk Island. 8/4/1847: Arrived VDL per Pestongee Bomangee. No Date: Application to bring out family. Samuel was married with 8 children. Samuel was then described as: Kitchen Gardener, 5'8" tall, age 61, fresh complexion, grey hair and whiskers, grey eyes, arms freckled, can read, Protestant. Native Place: Near Ashby. 18/3/1848: Assigned to C. DeGraves, Brewery. 22/5/1849: Fare for wife and and 8 children, expired. 22/4/1851: TOL refused. 15/12/1852: Samuel Arnold died at the Cascades brewery, aged 63, a gardener. No cause of death given.
