Convict Notes
19/2/1831 Newcastle Chronicle Tyne and Wear, England: Joseph Ormond, Timothy Holt, and Win. Ashblunt, for having at East Herrington, broken into the dwelling house of 1 and stolen several articles of wearing apparel. (Joseph Ormond was also on board - no ship found for Timothy Holt). William Ashblunt was 20 years old on arrival, he was 5'6 1/2" tall, single, sallow complexion, brown hair, light grey eyes, lost left arm B.A.W.A.D. inside right arm. 1832-35 Musters: Public Works. 25/10/1833 HobartTown Courier: W. Ashblunt and Samuel Field were acquitted on a charge of stealing tobacco from a cart. 1/4/1834 Colonial Times, Hobart: William Ashblunt, for absconding from his gang yesterday, was ordered twelve months addition to his present sentence, and to be kept at hard labor at Bridgewater chain gang during that time. This man was apprehended hy Mr. Richard Pyers the same day with one of his irons off. 25/4/1824 Hobart Town Courier: Absconded - he was sentenced six months to a chain gang, for absconding. 28/9/1843: Listed on his Conduct Record but nothing in the papers - Feloniously killing one wedder sheep with intent to steal the carcass. Sentenced to 14 years - 3 years spent at Port Arthur. 16/7/1844: At Port Arthur. His conduct record is so long that it is on 3 separate pages. 29/12/1851: TOL 21/3/1857: Was in H.M. Gaol at Launceston for sheep stealing. 7/5/1857 Launceston Examiner: Listed as leaving per 'Louisa' for Sydney. No further mention of him found.
