The Proceedings of the Old Bailey 735. JOHN ASHLEY was indicted for stealing, on the 8th of October , one linen handkerchief, value 1 s. the property of Jacob Wilkinson , Esq . PRISONER's DEFENCE. I was going up a narrow passage, and saw the handkerchief laying on the ground, and took it up; the gentleman said, I had his handkerchief: I said, I had not. GUILTY . Transported for seven years . Tried by the London Jury before Mr. RECORDER.
