Henry Ashworth was tried and convicted at Lancaster on 16/10/1839 for stealing 20 pieces of cotton from a warehouse. 15 yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Mandarin', arriving 30/06/1840. Aged 23yrs; Protestant; can read; weaver & labourer; 5'4 1/2"; black hair; brown complexion; Hazel eyes; single man. Native place: (?).gcombe, Lancashire. Gaol Report: connections respectable Hulk Report: good Ship Surgeon's report: general conduct good 2yrs Probation, extended another 3 mths. Some notes of misconduct. Ticket of Leave 02/11/1847 Free by servitude
