John Askeren, aged 25, late of Potterhanworth, laborer, was found guilty of stealing three heifers out of a close in the occupation of Mr. Richard Gambles, of Nocton, on the night of Sunday the 23d of July. The prisoner was seen near to the close about 9 o'clock on the Sunday night, and the next day he sold the heifers to Mr Gibson  Richards, in Sleaford market, for 21£. The Rev. P. Curtois, Wm. Giles of Branston, and Robt. Newton, gave the prisoner a good character honesty, but considered him weak in his intellects. Guilty. Judgment of Death recorded Stamford Mercury, 10 March 1826
